The Texas Heeler is a smart, spirited, and highly versatile hybrid dog, a cross between the Australian Cattle Dog (i.e. Blue Heeler) and the Australian Shepherd. Originally bred for herding livestock in the rugged landscapes of Texas, these dogs are known for their intelligence, agility, and unshakable work ethic.
With a keen instinct and boundless energy, Texas Heelers thrive when given a job to do—whether it’s rounding up animals, learning new tricks, or keeping a watchful eye on the homestead. They are deeply loyal to their people and often form strong bonds with a single person or family.
Their appearance varies but commonly includes a lean, athletic build, upright or semi-pricked ears, and striking coat patterns in merle, blue speckle, or tricolor. As much as they love to run and work, they also enjoy cuddling up after a day of adventure—making them both tireless workers and devoted companions.
Because of their high intelligence and energy levels, Texas Heelers do best in active homes where they get plenty of mental stimulation and physical exercise. With the right environment, they are truly remarkable dogs—driven, loving, and full of personality.
Our current litter of puppies will be available the week of July 1st. Photos and gender of each puppy can be found in the slideshow below. For more info or questions, please contact us at kalunafarmretreat@gmail.com.
